This is a love story about a diver who knew that everything is possible when there’s love, even making the most dreamy and romantic marriage proposal in a magical environment, the depths of the Galapagos Islands sea.
It all started a year ago, when Maxwel Hohn, a professional diver from Canada, was looking for a perfect time and place to pop the Big Question. While this plan was rounding his mind, he could visit the Galapagos Islands with Cailin Lindsay, his girlfriend. During their first dive, they both fell in love of the beauty of the islands and the next days were simply perfect
At this moment, Max decided that this was the perfect spot! She couldn’t stop talking about the experience, and he felt it was right! So, after a few months, the plan started. In May, 2025, they were going back to Galapagos aboard the Galaxy Diver 2, this time with some of their friends, which made this opportunity even better.
They got aboard on the 28th and everything was prepared for the big moment for the 31. Darwin Island was the spot, one of the most desirable and thrilling locations for any diver to visit, known for being an area where the 3 marine currents converge, allowing the encounter of many marine species at the same time, but also one of the most challenging areas for any diver.
Finally, the day has come! In the afternoon, the Galaxy Diver 2 crew had everything prepared, in spite of the currents the scenario was perfect. The couples and all the divers group went down, Maxwel was looking for the treasure chest in the depths of the sea, even though he was nervous, the joy was even bigger. And there it was…the treasure. He encouraged Cailin to open it while she was thinking: Is this a lost prop from a movie? I’m not open it. But after Maxwel insistence, she finally did
The chest was guarded by a big turtle that stood calmly and curiously in place. When she opened it, she saw some photographs of their past experiences together, a bottle with a love letter from Maxwel and a little cage with a special promise: to love her forever. He took the ring and put it on her finger, meanwhile their friends were witnessing the special moment, some of them were recording and others were holding the question: WILL YOU MARRY ME?
The divers held their signs tightly as they tried to hold on to the rocks to stay stable while struggling against the current, although the situation was complicated, it didn’t stop the nervous laughter.
In the meantime, the bride broke into tears of joy, completely stunned. She couldn’t believe what was happening, the emotions began to overtake her for a few minutes, causing her to become overwhelmed and consume more oxygen than usual. For a moment, Maxwel had to calm her down as he watched her diving glasses fill with tears.
She had no idea what her boyfriend had been planning for months, and although everything was occurring in an unpredictable environment, they wrapped up in “their own bubble”, which was perfect and peaceful.

A candle’s path guide them to the intimate place aboard, set to bossa nova music and a special menu. The toast with the the group and the crew came later, in the middle of joy, congratulations and happiness, the bride showed the engagement ring and the story marked a new star for the happy couple that enjoyed the next days with different eyes, knowing that now, the Galapagos Islands mean something more for them, for the rest of their lives together.
