Yet, <\/span><b>by 2021 carriers have been opening new routes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and increasing their flights to\/from South America.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, the Colombian flagship airline <\/span><b>Avianca announced it would open 23 new routes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">throughout the last term of 2021 and early 2022 (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eltiempo.com\/economia\/empresas\/avianca-lanzo-23-nuevas-rutas-internacionales-610139\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eltiempo.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ecuador is going to get a great benefit from these new routes. Why? Because <\/span><b>Avianca is adding direct flights between the US and Ecuador<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Until now, Avianca connects Ecuador with the US through Bogota and El Salvador. As Ecuadorian President Lasso says, this strategy looks forward to reactivating the tourism industry and the international connectivity of Ecuador by promoting an open sky policy (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.elcomercio.com\/actualidad\/negocios\/ecuador-eliminacion-isd-transacciones-boletos-aereos.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elcomercio.com<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, <\/span><b>LATAM Airlines group estimates to increase its flights within the South America region in August up to 49% of seats per kilometer available compared to 2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It will represent a consistent increment of almost 4% with July (45,6%) and close to 13% to June\u00b4s numbers (36,2%).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Based on these facts, we can see the conservative strategy of commercial carriers. They are focusing on strengthening their operations while adding new international and domestic flight routes step by step. Meanwhile, Ecuador\u2019s global connectivity recovered quickly from the post-pandemic period.
